This was brilliant! I loved the art style so honestly decided to give it a go from that alone at first. The story was actually reeeeally good though? I wish there was more to it. This feels a little bit like a proof of concept type demo. I know it was made as an exercise to see what you could do here, but I want to see more!!! What happened to our friend the techie? WAS that our friend? Or was it our friend the same way this thing was our whistleblower? So many questions....
Hey, this game was just a test for me, to see how I can implement a point-and-click adventure and how to tell a story in this genre.
Currently I’m working on another RPG project that is not officially announced. But I also have another point-and-click adventure on my idea list, that may be a candidate for steam.
Long story short: The Last Node is most probably done - although the comments and reviews are very positive. :)
this game is really cool and interesting! i would absolutely love to play a longer version of this. pixel art is beautiful and the horror works INSANELY well throughout the game, great job overall
I was immediately struck by the beautiful pixel art—the atmosphere you created is incredibly immersive. But what really blew me away was the final sequence.
Obligatory comment to tell itch that this is a good and sought-after game: loved this, I said it all in my video already but what a treat to get a pixel adventure with a twist from you. I am never not surprised.
Very interesting idea! I'd love to see it expanded a bit more... after the first playthrough (SPOILERS) I found that many of the dialogue "branches" were fake (no matter what I chose, I got the same outcomes). I totally understand that if this was made in a month, there's not a lot of content, but I was hoping for at least 2 endings, or some surprises. Maybe I missed something (the game could tell us how many endings there are, for example). The visuals and terminal are great already, so a bit more branches in the dialogues would do it justice. And some parts feel slow on a second playthrough, it would be nice if we could speed up some animations. Lastly, just a suggestion: use a more readable font, or add an option for a more accessible one, because it hurt my eyes after a while.
What I found eerie is that I work in an LLM-related field, and my name and surname are similar to the protagonist's... how can the AI know that?! That was scary. LOL
Very valid points. In my storyboard, this should have been much longer to let the effect sink in - but I also wanted to have it as a short experience. But even now the story could continue with Emma and this only serves as setup.
One part I’m not entirely satisfied with is that the revelation, that the model is cursed, leads to the death too quickly.
The basic idea was to create a sort of “The Ring” with LLMs. This also explains why Simon now has access to Simon’s real memories. The model now serves as a gateway to the afterlife. And the monster basically is an entity that roams the afterlife.
And the fact that your name is similar to Jana Stern’s and that you work with LLMs is really funny. :D
Any hope for a download version and an estimated play time? Big please and thank you for both of those! 🙏 (And either way, looking forward to recording this one!)
I like the near future setting, and the sci-fi conceit felt very relevant to modern day. When the text started to slow down in that one moment... I felt actual dread. Nice work Grau

Hey, I added a windows and linux version. The estimated play time would be ~15min.
Thank you very much!

Pretty abrupt the way it concluded, but it is highly engaging the whole way through and well made.
